The face of this specimen is especially captivating, with a large dreamy pink-to-violet mineralized area dusted with brilliant orange formations. Tiny orbicular patterns, natural pockets and unexpected flashes of color give it an almost floral, abstract appearance. Turn it over and the stone transitions dramatically into a deep charcoal-gray matrix with scattered rusty orange markings—a completely different landscape on each side.

Despite its familiar trade name, Bumblebee Jasper is not technically a jasper. Studied material from West Java, Indonesia is a carbonate-rich rock composed largely of calcite, with its characteristic yellow-orange coloration associated with arsenic-sulfide minerals.
